ReplyDeleteWe watch The Three Stooges. I liked the use of puns and physical humor that the show made sure to include, as well as the funny sound effects and seemingly ignorant natures of the main character. I also enjoyed the use of props for humor.
Comedic parts were when the characters argued with each other, because the fights usually became physical which was funny to me. How the characters reacted to certain actions made by the bad guys also made me laugh. The actors created this comedy by making sure they used props and over exaggerated movements / expressions.
A performer I enjoy watching who also uses physical humor to perform is Lucille Ball - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NPzLBSBzPI.
I liked the amount of accelerated movements in the movies. Everything is slightly speed up in Charlie Chaplin making it different and interesting. Also, the characters are very physical and exaggerated. The arguments were what made the piece comedic and I think that it was created mostly through exaggeration of movements and facial expressions. Comedy actors like Jim Carrey and others use many facial expressions and physical movements to show humor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evp1zDqSaHA
ReplyDeleteI noticed that it was funnier when the slapstick was in context, and over exaggerated. For example when Charlie Chaplin kept falling when he was roller skating. Another funny scene was when charlie kept dodging, and hitting a guy in the same way over, and over, and the guy never learned. The comedy is created when it's repetitive because then it seems funnier because the character never learns. I don't know anyone who uses physicality.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that the actors used big body movements to communicate and act.
ReplyDeleteThe parts that are comedic are the parts that the actor does something funny and different. He crates this humor with expressing his movements.
Some modern performs that use humor in there work could be a clown or a comedian in those bars in front of an audience.

what i liked about the slapstick about Charles Chaplin was that it was funny by using his physicality
ReplyDeleteWhat I noticed that the scene was black and white, which I didn't like that much but I understand that at the time there was no color for cameras. What I did like was that Charlie Chaplin could hide pretending he was a object, for example he pretended he was one of the moving dolls next to the ship. The parts that were comedic were when they were chasing after Charlie on a spinner and then he slipped and took down everyone. That was funny because we weren't expecting him to o on the spinner and take town everyone with just one hit. The performer I like is Jackie Chan, to me he is one of the all time greats and made my younger times complete.

I noticed that there was a lot of sharp movements and some words on the screen. I liked that you can understand what is going on even tho the actors don't say anything. Usually the conflict is funny. He used a lot of actions to describe. Eddie Murphy is a performer. He made many movies and they are very famous. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCFpVhTzIfA
ReplyDeleteAfter watching The Three Stooges, I liked how the three main characters reacted to each other, but I wanted the characters especially the gorilla to be more realistic. The actors made wired noises and did over reactions to create a comedy. I can't come out with someone who has physical humor, so i'll search and finish at home.
ReplyDeleteI have notice about the video that Charlie Chaplin is amazing improv actor that know one could follow and liked how Charlie Chaplin act. He never loses his focus while acting.
ReplyDeleteWhen Charlie Chaplin eats nut(bolt and nut), he spit it out but the machine gave that again. He created this comedy by leading the scene.
Practice again and again.
