Tuesday Class!

Actors,

I probably won't be back at the start of class, but might be there. In the meantime, please use today to continue to build upon our idea of CREATING STRONG CHARACTERS.  We'll see a professional improv show and then try it out on our own.  Hopefully I will be back at school by the end!

See you soon,
Ms. Grimes

Dating Game
  • How did the actors give clues about who they were? How can YOU be successful in a show like this?
  • How did they support one another during the show?
Duet
  • How did they support one another?
  • How do you rehearse for this type of scene?
Discuss as a group:
Which was your favorite game? What made them so great? How could you prepare to perform this?

Give it a go...

Warm Up: Pick one--Bang or Ninja!

Games to Try:
  • Freeze
  • Handful of Scenes
  • Dating Game (Make sure everyone gets to be a contestant at least once!) The questions the host asks, really have a big impact on whether s/he can guess the contestants. Brainstorm questions that give the contestants lots of space to give details about their characters.
  • Choice--If there's still time available, students can decide which game they would like to play. Try DUET!
Reflection (Last 5 minutes of class):
How did today go for you? Describe one moment of strength--how did you use the rules of Improv in your performance? What is an area you need to work on?
